This music promo was shot on a Black Magic 6K Pro in Black Magic RAW and edited by our sister company Sublime Pictures and an iPhone in Apple Prores. Edited in resolve and many things masked out, bad painting of the set, bits of tat in the background. The client wanted minimal depth of field but there wasnt a lot of time to set up shots on the shoot so I used magic mask to track Jimmy and defocus the background.
A nice speakeasy mood was required so kept it dark in the backgrounds.
Although the music was specifically mixed for the promo the client wanted it to look like it was a full set that had been edited so some discontinuity was introduced. The opposite we normally try to achieve.
The filming was done with minimal lighting, only a panel light and a dimmable backlight were used in addition to the club lighting and candles on the tables.
